How Mediation Works for Conflict Resolution

Persons in Conflict:

1. Agree to Mediate

2. Identify the issues

3.Are respectful and truthful

4.Listen to each others words and feelings

5.Are willing to consider other options in negotiating

6.Are guided by a mediator to achieve a resolution


Mediators

1. Are a neutral, unbiased third party in the negotiation process.

2. Provide guidance, maintaining total impartiality throughout the process.

3. Their personal opinions do not play any role in mediation.

4. They nurture a positive tone of communication.

5. They maintain, on their part, strict confidentiality after the mediation
